Candidate Statement for Kevin Akin for State Assembly, District 63

Many politicians say they want to represent everyone in Sacramento or Washington. I don’t. I seek to represent working people. I have no interest in representing the very wealthy, who have plenty of representation already. I refuse contributions from corporations or corporate PACs.

Born and raised in Western Riverside County, I have worked as a carpenter, a steelworker, and a steam engineer. My wife and I have four adult children and five grandchildren. My real-life experiences have given me a solid understanding of the problems and concerns of the people of this district, and an understanding of the willingness of people to find solutions.

A life-long community volunteer, I have been an activist or officer in dozens of organizations over the years, including medical and childcare nonprofits, hobby clubs, historic preservation advocates, and neighborhood groups. Active in four unions over my working life, I have also served many years on the board of my religious congregation, and have volunteered for many good candidates for public office.

Another reason to vote for me is experience I lack. I have no experience taking money from the corporate wealthy and then voting their way in the legislature.

I bring one question to every issue and proposal: What is good for workers and their families?

We need affordable housing, childcare, and transportation; free public education, from pre-school through university; medical care for all. We need legislators who act for workers, not billionaires.

Kevin Akin for State Assembly, 63rd District.

Please vote for Kevin Akin on your ballot in the November 3, 2026 general election.

Unity against the Trump cult!
The incumbent is an ultra-rightist who will not criticize any act of her leader, no matter how corrupt or how ill-advised.
We need to unite to vote for democracy, our rights, and our country.

Let’s get together and vote for common sense, for the rights of working people, and for our liberties.

Some Republicans are already voting for Kevin Akin. And he is getting strong support from Democrats, Greens, Peace and Freedom, etc., plus many unaffiliated voters. No matter your party, Americans need you to vote in November to save our republic. State Assembly is not the highest office, but it is important.

Please vote for Kevin!
